Here’s a look at the pots I just dropped off at Curator (on Church and Day) and The General Store (on Judah and 46th) in San Francisco.
New Plants in the New Pots!
June 18th, 2010 · Pinch Me! Ceramics
I went to my favorite cactus store to pick up new plants for my new pinch pots! It was SO fun. I felt like a kid in a candy store! This time, I brought my new pots with me so I could pick out the most perfect plant for each pot.

Super Crazy Busy
June 17th, 2010 · Pinch Me! Ceramics
I have great news! All my pots in all three stores, The General Store and Curator in SF and the Spitfire Girl in LA, are getting a great response! So much so, that all the stores want more!! But, I have no more… So, I went on a building frenzy! In the last three days I’ve made twelve! Which, I’ll tell ya, is uncalled for. I’ve been pinching and carving constantly. It’s actually been super fun. I’ve experimented with a new design (hint: lines and dots). And, after hearing some feedback from the stores, I made a ton of pots with two holes (or as Serena from The General Store called them, baskets, which I love).

My New Nursery
June 16th, 2010 · Pinch Me! Ceramics
I made the window sill in the kitchen my new nursery. That way I can see them everyday and monitor how everyone is doing daily. It the best place! I can water the plants and let them drain in the sink! I love it!

My Planting Process
June 15th, 2010 · Pinch Me! Ceramics
Come and watch while I plant some succulents in one of my new pinch pots!
I set up my “station” on a table on the back porch. The weather was beautiful today! I’ve got my coffee, a ton of empty pinch pots, some dirt and a few plants.

Next, I pick out a plant. This one is a small Haworthia I picked up from the California Cactus Center in Pasadena.

Now, I pick a pot. This one is one of the bigger ones, so there’s room for a few more plants. I check out what I’ve got, which ones are healthy enough to the transplanted. I want the plants look nice together, but I have to keep in mind how each one grows, if it grows up or out or down. I want the pot to look better and better as the succulents thrive.

In the bottom of each pot, I put a handful of loose rocks. This helps with the drainage and keeps everyone healthy and happy.

Now I arrange the plants how I think they’ll look nice. I use a spoon to get the dirt into hard to reach places.

With this one, once I got them all in, I decided I needed a bit of color. I found a little plant with some red on it, and threw it into the mix.

My pots are now for sale in LA! An amazing boutique in beautiful Echo Park (just around the corner from my house), Spitfire Girl, decided to give my pots a try. About twenty minutes after I left, the owner, Kristine, called me up and said she had already sold three!! Like hot cakes, I tell ya… Like hot cakes…

Pinch Me! Logo
June 9th, 2010 · Pinch Me! Ceramics
The other day, I decided on a name for the pinch pots I make, Pinch Me! Ceramics. I love it! So, now, I’m starting to play around with different logos for my pinch pots. Here’s the one I made today!
I think it’s perfect. But, I’m the type of person to just make one and go with it. But, the best thing to do would be to make a couple and see which one is best. For today, this is what I came up with and I love it. Maybe I’ll play around with it a little tomorrow again. Or not…

Carrot Cake for Two
June 8th, 2010 · food
I’m bad at making a meal for just two people. We usually have tons of left overs. And we’re not big on left overs, so the food usually goes to waste. So, I’m trying super hard to make really small portions. Here’s one of my first attempts, Carrot Cake for Two! YUM! I took my grandma’s recipe and quartered it. Just the prefect amount for two people. Should last a few days.
