second official craft day!

i held the second official craft day last night! first of all, thank you, each and every one of you, for coming! (in order of appearance) sister sara, susan, barbara, lisa, cousin sarah, jamie, erica, kathleen, maura! everyone, i think, had a great time! the theme for the night was mobiles. I got a great pattern from spool for a birdie mobile.

i made my birdies and mobile ahead of time. i needed to figure everything out, so i could show the ladies how it’s done and i knew i wasn’t going to have time to make anything! well, i LOVE how mine turned out. i ended up, from dan’s suggestion, spray painting my branches gold. such a great idea. the gold adds a wonderful decadence.

ok, let me start with saying how wonderful it felt to have my living room overflowing with women! all talking and crafting. i was in heaven. it was also so interesting to see how each lady crafted their own individual special way. some very meticulous and slow. some head first and all out.

i definitely learned a ton; what a star cactus is and how to fish out a broken needle. i learned that some birds can look like dolphins, for real, and some can be so fat they burst. i learned that i have way too many scissors and a penchant for scissors. (but really, who can blame me! there’s nothing like a really shape pair!)

i set up “stations” through out the house. as the night wore on, the stations morphed and changed. the ironing station became a sewing station, the fabric station became a cutting station and sadly, the hot glue gun station went untouched all night long. i under estimated the breadth of this craft! it’s definitely a two nighter. last night was the first part, birdie construction. the second part will be mobile construction.
