Veggie Chili
For dinner last night, I made The Best Vegetarian Chili in the World (well, at least that’s what it’s called. but, it IS really frickin’ good). It’s super easy to make and a good crowd pleaser. I made it one time on a group weekend trip to Joshua Tree. The recipe says that it feeds six. But I think it’s closer to sixteen! It fed ten people dinner, lunch and breakfast!

For Christmas this year, we got a new stove and a few new friends to keep the stove company. A tiny cast iron frying pan camouflaged as a spoon rest, an itty bitty coffee pot and a giant strawberry disguised as timers.

Books on Tape
A guilty pleasure of mine. Well, I guess I don’t really feel guilty about it. Cause it’s still reading a book, just someone else is reading it to me! And what could be better than that! It feels like being a kid again and having Mom read me a bedtime story. This love started when I first moved to LA, one of my three jobs was at a party rental company. Ryan, my boss/quick to become my close friend, and I were banished to a dark basement office somewhere in El Segundo, where we arranged our desks like two private investigators (facing each other) working together to solve graphic design mysteries. While we painstakingly color corrected, lassoed and cropped photos of cutlery, chairs and folding tables, we would endlessly listen to audio book after audio book mixed in with the occasional episode of This American Life or Le Show. Now-a-days, I get my fix on long car rides (coming home from the desert or San Francisco). Lately, those drives have been filled with This American Life. Until yesterday… I went to the library and stocked up on some new audio books!! The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe, A Wrinkle In Time, Harry Potter and a few others. Sad thing is, I have nowhere far away to drive to…
